I have Plex Media Server on a Mac Pro serving video to Plex Home Theater on a Mac Mini. All file formats play just fine except for HEVC h.265 files. I always get the 'Please Wait' message for a couple of seconds when starting the file or when trying to skip back or forward. Would love to hear the experiences and ideas of others who are using a mini for this purpose. I am an all PC network, and would add the Mac mini as a home theater front end because it seems the usability and UI will be good (gotta make sure it passes muster with my wife).

deals on PC parts. Hey man - just had a look through your videos, it's a pretty slick setup! Mines got a few similarities to yours, in the sense that i've created a web front end to a lot of the services i'm running at home (very basic in comparison to yours, it was my first dabble with writing any web based stuff), feel free to take a look at it here: plexit.uk.to I did have a play around with sickbeard and couchpotato (font and colour scheme for my site), but found it easier to just per-use the sites themselves (HDB/AHD etc). The only thing that i'm running differently or that you don't have (which you appear to have similar functionality with your harmony remote - although i'm too cheap to buy one), is a front end to all of the services on the HTPC itself. I use something called JRivers Media Center in theater view, and use it as an application launcher on top of plex etc, take a look at it here: If you've got multiple users accessing your plex server you can install plexWatch & plexWatchWeb to track their usage, really nifty utility, it's on the plex forums, so feel free to take a look. I'm definitely going to explore using the LED setup, do you find it intrusive at all when watching films?
All the best. PlexWatch Oh wow!
This is all really cool man. Plexit.co.uk is very similar to what I'm doing. Yea if you force user authentication on plexit.co.uk then once your users sign in you can link to your apps with username:password@serverip:port.
It will autofill in the password fields. PHP populates those urls during runtime too so you can't look at the code and see the hyperlinks. Thanks for plexwatch & plexwebwatch tip!
Leds are not distracting. But I also setup a button on my remote to flip the LEDs on and off. Also when I turn the system off the LEDS flip off.
Awesome, thanks for the tip - I might look at creating something a little more professional! Another quick question on the LED's themselves, most of the films I have maintain their aspect ratio, meaning that there's the pair of black bars at the top and bottom of the film, how would the LED's work in this instance, would the top and bottom of the lighting be off/black? Do you think the lightpack is still worth it if you're only going to be getting the lighting affect on the sides of your screen? Awesome videos! I'm at work and unable to view your videos in their entirety with sound, so I apologize if this is discussed in depth in the video. I currently run XBMC on a few Mac Minis throughout my house.
I also have Harmony One remotes, and am able to get them to work great for XBMC navigation via the standard 'Plex' template within the Logitech software. However, OSX commands via Harmony remote really interest me. Mind pointing me in the right direction on how you accomplished this? Also, is your Pandora integrated in either Plex or XBMC, or is it a standalone application? Thanks in advance!
